Let an ordinary success remain visible beside the thing you wish had gone better.

One thing going badly has a way of colouring a whole week, until everything that went fine becomes invisible. The mind treats the failure as the true report and files the rest as background noise. That is not accuracy, it is a bias in what gets kept. The ordinary successes are exactly as real as the disappointment sitting beside them.
When you are turning something over this week, name two things that went as they should have. Not to cancel out the difficulty, only to keep the picture the right size. Say both out loud if you are going through it with someone else.
What went right on the day you remember only for its mistake?
