A place can offer comfort without becoming an escape from every difficult thought.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
There is a difference between a place that steadies you and a place you disappear into. The steadying kind gives you rest and then lets you go back out. The other kind quietly takes over the job of not thinking, and every hard subject waits outside the door until you stop going in. Comfort is not the problem. Comfort used as a permanent address is.
Notice which room, screen, or routine you reach for when something needs deciding. Keep it, and add one small condition, such as thinking the difficult thing through either before you go in or shortly after you come out.
