A waiting person deserves information before their patience becomes part of the plan.

Waiting is bearable when it is informed and corrosive when it is blank. The trouble begins when someone’s willingness to wait gets quietly counted as a resource, so the update never gets sent because they have not complained. Their patience ends up subsidizing the delay, and they learn how long it was only after it is over.
Tell people what you know when you know it, including that there is no answer yet. Give a time when you will speak again. Silence during a delay costs more than the delay itself.
Whose patience have you spent without telling them anything?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
