The pleasure of making can survive a result you would never put on display.

CREATIVITY
Making holds two separate goods: the hours inside the work and the object at the end. They get collapsed together, so a disappointing result seems to spoil the time retroactively, which is a strange trade when the hours were genuinely good while they were happening. The bad drawing does not repossess the afternoon.
Judge the next attempt by whether the making was worth doing, separately from the outcome. Keep the ugly one somewhere private rather than throwing it away. Then make another, since the pleasure was in the doing.
What did you enjoy making even though it turned out badly?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
