A specific example can carry more feeling than a paragraph insisting something mattered.
GRATITUDE
GRATITUDE
Insisting that something was important asks the reader to take your word for it. A single concrete detail lets them arrive at the feeling themselves, which is the only way feeling ever really lands. The particular thing someone said at the door, or the coffee still made for two. Adjectives describe an experience; details reproduce one.
When you next want to convey that something mattered, delete the sentence claiming it did and put one exact moment in its place. Choose the smallest one you remember clearly. If it still feels underdone, add a second detail rather than a stronger word.
