The newcomer who asks many questions may be trying hard not to inconvenience anyone.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
A stream of questions can read as neediness when it is often the opposite. Someone new is trying to avoid the larger cost of getting it wrong: the wasted afternoon, the piece that has to be redone, the interruption at a worse moment. They are spending small amounts of your attention now to protect big amounts later. That is care, even when it arrives as a fifth message before lunch.
Answer generously for the first weeks and, where you can, write the answer somewhere it will keep. Tell them which questions they never need to hesitate over. The volume drops on its own once they know the ground.
Whose many questions did you read as a nuisance?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
