LEADERSHIP
Expertise includes knowing what the cheaper choice gives up, and that knowledge often stands between a customer and a decision they will regret in two years. Saying nothing is technically honest and practically not. Most people are not asking for the best; they are asking to understand what they are buying with the difference. The cheaper option is frequently the right one, which is exactly why the reasoning should be shared.
When you offer someone a lower-cost route, name what it costs them: lifespan, finish, ease of repair. Then say which you would choose in their situation and why.
Which trade-off do you leave unsaid when someone chooses cheaper?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
