REFLECTION
REFLECTION
The gap between reading and replying used to be filled by walking somewhere, or finding paper, or waiting for a call to end. That gap was where most of your judgment lived. When answering takes one thumb and two seconds, the reply arrives before the thought has finished forming, and the speed feels like efficiency rather than what it often is. Nothing about the device is asking you to think.
Put a deliberate delay back in for anything that matters: draft it, then send it after you have done something else. Notice how often you change a word or a whole position.
Which reply did you send before you had thought?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
