A modest achievement can represent an effort that only you know how to measure.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

Achievements get judged by their visible size, which has little to do with what they cost. Leaving the house on a hard week, finishing something small after months of not being able to start, making a phone call you had put off for a year: from outside these look like ordinary Tuesdays. You are the only person with access to the starting point. That is not a reason to discount the distance.

When you catch yourself dismissing something because it would be easy for someone else, measure from where you began instead. Say what it took, at least privately. Then let it count as what it was.
