Someone else’s promotion may hurt more when your own effort has gone unnamed.

The sting is rarely about the other person. Watching someone recognised is bearable when you feel seen; it becomes painful when your own work has been absorbed quietly for a year with nobody saying so. What surfaces then is not really envy, it is the accumulated weight of being unnamed.
When it stings, ask what you are actually missing: the title, the money, or simply being told your work is noticed. If it is the last of those, that is a conversation you can have. Congratulate them anyway, and then go and ask for what you need.
Which of your efforts has never been named aloud?
