The part you leave out of your own story may be the part that explains its repetition.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Every account of a life leaves things out, usually not from dishonesty but because one detail is uncomfortable or seems beside the point. Sometimes that missing piece is the hinge. A situation that keeps returning can look mysterious from inside a version of events assembled without it.
The next time you tell a familiar story about yourself, notice what you routinely skip over. You do not owe that part to anyone, and it does not need to be spoken aloud. Letting yourself see it once is enough to start with.
What do you skip when you tell people your own history?
