The result should be judged against the agreement, not an unspoken picture in your mind.

Everyone arrives at a piece of work carrying an image they never described to anyone. When the delivered thing does not match it, the disappointment feels like poor quality when it is usually a gap in the brief. The other person built what was actually said, which is all they had to work from.

Before you react to something you asked for, reread what was agreed. If the gap sits in your own description, say so plainly and pay for the change rather than implying a failure.
