STILLNESS
A new choice often comes with a defensive speech attached. You change how you eat or where you live, and something in you wants to make the case out loud, because a choice feels safer when others are shown to be mistaken. But the choice does not need that support. Turning a preference into a verdict costs you the company of people who were not asking.
The next time you explain a decision, try stopping at what it does for you. Say you feel better this way, and leave the comparison out. If someone wants your reasoning, they will ask.
Which of your choices do you defend by criticizing other people’s?
