A shared road works better when being considerate matters more than arriving one place ahead.

The gains from driving aggressively are almost comically small. Cutting in, riding a bumper, refusing to let someone merge buys a place or two and perhaps forty seconds, at the cost of tightening the whole road behind you. Traffic behaves like a fluid, and every abrupt move sends a wave backward that somebody else absorbs. The person who leaves a gap is not being slow; they are keeping the system loose enough to move.
Leave a bigger following distance than feels necessary and let two people in on your way home. Notice how little the clock changes. The forty seconds were never the point.
What does your driving reveal about your patience with strangers?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
