A role can be worthwhile and still require a limit on how much of you it receives.

Meaning makes limits harder to hold. When the work matters, or the people do, every request carries an implicit argument that any boundary is selfishness, and the ones who care most end up giving the most until there is nothing left to give. A role can deserve your effort without deserving all of your evenings, your health, or the parts of you that belong to other people.

Choose one limit this week and keep it plainly, without a long justification. Say what you can do rather than apologizing for what you cannot. The point is to still be there in two years, which the work also needs.
