The person who takes all the photographs deserves to appear in some of them.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Whoever holds the camera is missing from the family record, and nobody notices until years later when someone goes looking. The person who documented every birthday appears in almost none of them, which quietly suggests they were somewhere else. Being behind the lens is a service, and it comes with a cost that only shows up later.
Hand the camera to somebody else two or three times at the next occasion. Ask for a picture with the people you love in it, even if you dislike how you photograph. If someone in your family always disappears from the album, take the picture they will not ask for.
Who is missing from your photographs because they held the camera?
