A person can want company nearby without wanting someone to speak for them.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Being present and being a spokesperson are two different offers, and the second can quietly cancel the first. Someone who wants you in the room may still want their own words in it, especially when they are tired or unwell and answering slowly. Speaking for them saves a little time and takes something they were still holding.
When you accompany somebody this week, ask beforehand what they want from you: notes, questions, or simply a person sitting there. Leave silences longer than feels comfortable so they can fill them. Step in when they look for you, and not before.
When did someone answer for you while you were present?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
