The example that reaches people is often the one closest to an ordinary decision.

Large examples impress and small ones persuade. A story about an extraordinary case invites admiration and then a quiet conclusion that it does not apply here, while an example set on an ordinary morning, with a familiar constraint in it, lets someone see themselves doing the thing. Recognition is what moves a person, not scale.
When you are trying to explain something this week, pick the smallest true example you have. Use the version with a real budget, a real Tuesday, a real interruption. If people respond by describing their own situation back to you, the example was the right size.
