You can follow up without making your uncertainty someone else’s emergency.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Waiting is uncomfortable, and the discomfort looks for somewhere to go. A follow-up written from that feeling tends to arrive as urgency: several messages, a nudge on another channel, a tone asking the other person to settle your unease as well as answer the question. The need was real; the alarm was yours.

Decide in advance when you will check in and what you will say, then wait until then. Keep it short and factual, with a date attached. If the delay genuinely starts to matter, name the consequence plainly rather than adding pressure to every sentence.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Does your follow-up ask calmly or hand over your worry?
