The task you finish quietly may be protecting a person who will never know it needed doing.

LEADERSHIP
Much of the work that keeps things steady is invisible by design. The problem is caught early, the mistake is corrected before it lands, the difficult message is absorbed rather than passed along. Nobody thanks you, because from where they stand nothing happened, which is exactly the result you were producing.
When you find yourself resenting the silence, remember what the silence means, then do a second thing. Notice who is doing that invisible work for you, and say plainly that you saw it, because the people doing it rarely hear that they were seen.
What do you handle quietly that no one knows to thank?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
