A reputation for honesty needs room to say that a task is outside your skill.

LEADERSHIP
Competence gets built into how people see you, and once it is there, admitting a limit feels like taking something back. So the awkward job gets accepted, done adequately or badly, and everybody pays for a moment of discomfort you avoided. Saying what you cannot do is part of the same honesty that makes your yes worth anything.
When something lands outside what you actually know, say so early and point toward whoever can do it. You will be trusted more, not less, because your confidence will finally mean something specific.
What have you agreed to do that exceeds your actual skill?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
