Endings are disproportionately memorable, and a handover is an ending. Whatever you did over years gets colored by whether the last week left people with clear notes, returned keys and finished loose ends, or with a mess they had to unpick while explaining your absence. It is unfair how much weight the final impression carries, and it carries it anyway. Leaving well is also the last favor you can do for people you liked.
If you are moving on from anything, spend a couple of hours writing down what only you know. Leave the space in the condition you would want to inherit.
What do you leave behind in rooms other people use?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
