A wish becomes easier to answer when it is spoken as a request.

GRATITUDE
Hinting protects you from refusal and also from being helped. Saying it would be nice if someone visited, or that you never get a day off, leaves the other person to decode intent, decide whether they were being asked, and risk getting it wrong in either direction. Most people are willing and not perceptive. A plain sentence removes all of that and costs only the discomfort of asking.
Turn one wish you have been broadcasting into an actual request this week. Name what you want, from whom, and when, and let them answer honestly.
