The item you keep out of guilt still needs room that something useful could occupy.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Guilt is a poor tenant. The gift you never liked, the inheritance you cannot use, the equipment from an abandoned plan: each takes exactly as much space as something you would actually reach for, and gives nothing back except a small twinge every time you see it. The obligation you feel is to a person or a past intention, not to the object.
Pick one thing you are holding out of guilt and decide what the room it occupies could otherwise do. Photograph it if the memory is the point. Then pass it to someone who will use it.
What do you keep only because giving it away feels rude?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
