A complaint about everything gives the listener nowhere useful to begin.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Total dissatisfaction is hard to help with. When the report is that the whole job, the whole house or the whole arrangement is wrong, the person listening has no handle to take hold of, and their choices narrow to arguing with you or waiting for the weather to pass. Even sympathetic people go quiet before a complaint with no edges.

Before you next unload, pick the one thing that is worst right now and lead with it. Say what you would want changed about that single piece. The rest can still be true, but a listener who can act on something usually stays in the conversation longer.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Could you narrow one complaint enough for someone to act?
