RESILIENCE
Arriving somewhere new is usually met with internal criticism rather than credit. You walk into the class, the meeting, the group, and the loudest voice in your head is the one listing how out of place you look, while the part that decided to come gets no acknowledgement at all. Turning up was the difficult bit and it has already been done.
As you cross the threshold, give yourself the small nod you would give a friend. Remind yourself that you chose this and that awkwardness is what arriving feels like. Stay long enough to let the room become ordinary, which usually takes less time than you fear.
What unfamiliar room would you enter if you were kinder to yourself?
