Smoothness is manufactured. The clean bathroom at the station, the stocked shelf, the meeting that began on time, the bins emptied before you woke up each represent somebody’s hands and somebody’s early start, and they are built to be invisible. Absence of trouble reads as absence of effort, which is why the people who produce it are thanked least.

Pick one thing that went right today and trace it back to a person. If they are reachable, tell them you noticed, and if they are not, at least stop calling it luck.
