The person who no longer has a title still has a lifetime of ways to notice a problem.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Judgment is not stored in a job. Decades of watching things go wrong leave a person able to spot a pattern early, sense when a plan is thinner than it sounds, and know which question matters, and none of that gets handed back when the role ends. What ends is the automatic invitation to speak, so the noticing continues privately while the room proceeds without it.

If you know someone who has stepped back, ask their view on something specific rather than in general. And if you are the one without a title, offer the observation anyway, since you are still the person who saw it.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What do you still see clearly that no role requires now?
