A walk becomes more generous when you leave enough time to stop.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

A walk on a tight schedule is transport with better scenery. The value of walking mostly lives in the ability to stop, to follow something interesting, to talk to a person you did not expect to meet, and none of that survives a deadline at the far end. Slack is not wasted time here. It is the whole difference between covering a route and going for a walk.

Add fifteen minutes to your next walk before you leave, and treat them as already spent. Let yourself stop for something ordinary without checking the clock. If you arrive early anyway, that is a fine outcome too.
