A quiet study table can make a crowded home less decisive about someone’s future.

Concentration needs somewhere to happen, and not every home has room for it. Someone sharing a small flat with several other lives is not less capable, only less able to find an uninterrupted hour. A table, a lamp and a door loosen the grip of circumstance considerably. Libraries and study rooms exist largely for this, and their opening hours settle more futures than they get credit for.
If you have a spare corner and someone nearby needs one, say so rather than waiting to be asked. If you have a vote or a small donation, the places that provide quiet are worth defending.
Where did you find quiet enough to learn something difficult?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
