A paid invoice lets completed work become completed business as well.

LEADERSHIP

WHAT THIS MEANS

Finishing the work and finishing the job are two different events. Until the money arrives, the thing stays open: in a ledger, in a calculation about rent, in the small ongoing question of whether it will need chasing. The person who did the work cannot put it down, however well it went. Payment is not only money changing hands, it is permission to stop thinking about it.

If you owe someone for finished work, pay today rather than at the end of the cycle. If a system stands in the way, say when it will land so the waiting has a shape.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What do you owe that you have quietly left unpaid?

Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
