The ordinary day gains depth through details nobody thought worth announcing.

What gets reported about a day is the summary, and the summary is not where the day lived. The depth is in what nobody would think to mention: the order you did things in, a smell in a stairwell, a two-minute exchange at a counter. Those details fall below the threshold of being worth telling, which is why they never make it into anyone’s account of their own life, including yours.
Write down three unreportable things from today before you sleep. Not achievements, only details. A week of that is a truer record than a year of summaries.
