The letter that asks nothing can still give the recipient something to carry.

Nearly everything that arrives contains a request, which trains people to read looking for the ask. A message with nothing to answer lands in a different part of the mind entirely. There is no task attached, so it does not get filed as a task, and it can be kept for its own sake. Giving without a hook in it is unusual enough to be noticed.
Write to someone this week and make sure there is nothing in it for them to do. Say plainly that no reply is needed. Then let it go without watching to see whether it was answered, because that watching puts the hook back in.
Who might welcome a note from you that requests nothing?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
