Understanding something in the place it was taught proves very little. Anyone can apply a rule in the classroom, the review or the workshop, where the shape of the problem has already been announced. The test is whether it turns up uninvited in a kitchen or a car park, when nothing labels the moment as relevant. Knowledge becomes yours when it starts arriving without being sent for.

Take something you learned recently and find one place this week where nobody would expect it to apply. Use it there deliberately. If nothing outside the original setting has changed, you have the information but not yet the lesson.
