The person who dislikes a dish has not necessarily rejected the person who made it.

Cooking for people makes taste feel like a verdict. You put effort and a bit of yourself into something, and when someone leaves it, the natural reading is that they have declined you rather than the coriander. Preferences are mostly physical and unchosen; nobody has a say in what their mouth does with a flavour. Nothing about their reaction contains an opinion of you.
If you cook, ask what people like and let their answers be about food. And if you are the one who cannot eat something, say so early and warmly, since a sentence at the start is kinder than a plate left at the end.
Whose dislike of your work did you hear as a verdict?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
