The roadside pause can save a journey from becoming an argument about endurance.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Long journeys have a way of turning into a contest nobody agreed to enter. Once stopping feels like a concession, everyone stays quiet about being hungry, or needing the toilet, or wanting five minutes, and the mood in the car deteriorates over something entirely fixable. The endurance frame arrives on its own, usually out of a wish not to be the one holding things up. Twenty minutes at a lay-by dissolves it completely.
On the next long trip, put a stop in the plan before anyone needs one. Making the break scheduled rather than requested takes the whole question of who is weakest out of the car.
When would stopping earlier have spared you an unnecessary argument?
