The name on an old certificate may describe an achievement more accurately than its owner today.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
A certificate freezes a person at their most capable moment in one narrow thing. The qualification stays valid on paper long after the skill has faded through disuse, and the name on it describes someone who could do that then rather than someone who can do it now. This is not a failure; nobody keeps everything they once knew. It only becomes a problem when the paper is treated as a current description.
If you hold a credential you no longer practise, be honest with yourself about which is true today. And when you judge someone by an old qualification, ask what they have done with it since.
Which qualification of yours describes a person you no longer are?
