The same station can mean escape to one person and return to another.

A place has no fixed emotional content; it takes whichever meaning the person arriving brings with them. The same platform holds someone leaving a life they could not stay in and someone coming home to one they missed, standing a few feet apart with nothing in common but the timetable. Neither reading is more accurate. It is worth remembering when you assume that a place obviously feels a certain way.

When you go somewhere loaded for you, allow that the person beside you may be having the opposite day. Asking rather than assuming makes for better conversations in stations, at funerals, and at family gatherings.
