The person you are alone deserves as much attention as the person you present socially.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Enormous care goes into the version of you that other people meet: how you come across, what you say, how you are received. The version that exists when you are alone gets whatever is left, which is usually very little, even though that is the one you spend every hour with.
Give that person some deliberate attention. Ask how they are actually doing, what they need, whether the way you speak to yourself would be acceptable said to a friend. It is an unglamorous investment and it changes the quality of every hour, including the social ones.
How well do you treat yourself on days nobody sees?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
