A dress made for standing still has misunderstood most celebrations.

Celebrations are mostly movement: dancing, carrying plates, bending to hug a child, sitting for three hours in a warm room. Something built only to photograph well has designed for one second of a long day. The same mistake shows up beyond clothes, in rooms and plans made for how they look rather than for what will happen inside them. Beauty that costs you the evening is a poor trade.

Before the next occasion, try the thing in motion. Sit down, raise your arms, walk a corridor. If it only works while you stand still, it is asking you to stand still.
