A song heard by chance can attach itself to a place for years.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Memory attaches itself to whatever happens to be nearby. A song playing in a cafe or a car gets bound to that street, and years later the first bars put you back there with more force than any deliberate act of recollection. You did not choose the pairing and cannot easily undo it. Chance does a great deal of the filing.
If a song has taken a place away from you, playing it on purpose somewhere new can loosen it over time. If it holds something good, keep it and use it when you want that place back. Whatever is playing today is quietly making tomorrow’s associations.
