A collector’s duplicate may become another person’s welcome first piece.

The same object sits at completely different points in two people’s stories. In one collection it is a spare, already owned and mildly in the way; passed on, it becomes somebody’s first of that kind and the start of an interest. Nothing about the item changed, only where it landed. Abundance in one place is a beginning somewhere else.

Look through what you have too many of and think of one person for whom it would be new. Give it without ceremony and without a lecture on its value. Handing on a spare costs you nothing and can begin something you never see the end of.
