Awkward moments become stories partly through who gets to tell them afterward.

Whether a moment stays awkward depends less on the moment than on who narrates it. The same stumble can become a shared joke, a piece of gossip, or a thing nobody mentions again, and that is mostly decided by who speaks first and how generous they are. Being the subject of a story you did not get to tell is a particular kind of exposure. Telling carries more power than it usually feels like it does.
If something awkward happens near you this week, offer the kind version out loud and early. If it happened to you, telling it yourself first is allowed.
