The standard you use for yourself may be harsher than the one you would defend for a friend.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
The rules you enforce on yourself would rarely survive being said aloud about anyone else. You would not tell a friend that one bad week undoes a year, or that needing rest proves weakness, and you would argue with anyone who said it to them. Somehow the same sentences pass unchallenged when they are aimed inward. Harshness feels like accuracy from the inside, which is why it goes unexamined for years.
Write down what you have been telling yourself lately, then read it as though it were addressed to someone you love. Keep only the part you would still be willing to say.
Would you speak to a friend the way you speak to yourself?
