Recognition arrives unevenly because visible work is easier to name.

LEADERSHIP
Praise follows what can be described. Presenting, launching and finishing are all easy to point at, while preventing, maintaining, coordinating and calming things down leave no artefact to hold up. The unevenness is rarely malice; it is that the second kind of work has no natural moment at which anyone notices it.
When you thank somebody this week, try to name a piece of work that produced no visible object. If your own contribution is of that kind, describing what did not happen because of you is not boasting, it is supplying the missing information.
Whose invisible contribution should you name next time credit is handed out?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
