A profession can teach a useful way of noticing that follows you outside work.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Years in any trade train your eyes in a particular direction. A nurse reads breathing in a crowded room, a builder reads a ceiling, a cook reads what is about to burn. That attention does not switch off at the end of a shift, and it is one of the quieter things work gives you, separate from pay or title.
Name your own version of it. Ask what you see faster than most people do, and where else that could be useful, whether in a friend’s kitchen or in your own house. It counts as skill even when nobody is paying for it.
What has your work taught you to notice everywhere else?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
