The shape must survive being lifted before it deserves to be admired.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

A form that looks right sitting still has only passed the easiest test. Lift it, carry it, use it with wet hands, and the weaknesses show up in the places nobody photographed. Craft judges things under load, because a thing that fails when handled was never really finished, however handsome it looked on the shelf.

Apply the lift test to whatever you are making. Hand your draft to someone and watch where they stumble, or use the prototype in the awkward real conditions rather than the tidy ones. Admiration can wait until after the thing has been picked up.
