A mistranslation can survive because everyone is too polite to admit the sentence is strange.

Odd wording often stays in place because each person assumes the fault is their own comprehension. Nobody wants to be the one who did not follow, so the strange sentence gets nodded past, printed again, and eventually treated as house style. Politeness and self-doubt together are enough to preserve an error for years.

Be the person who says the sentence reads oddly, without accusing anyone of getting it wrong. Asking what a line is meant to say is a small favour to everyone else in the room who was quietly wondering. Most of the time you are not the only one.
