The person crossing slowly deserves a route that does not treat haste as the only reasonable pace.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Crossing timings are usually set for a brisk walker in good health, which quietly makes everyone slower into a problem. Someone with a stick, a toddler, a heavy bag or painful knees is not failing the crossing; the crossing is failing to imagine them. Public design carries an idea of a normal body inside it, and that idea decides who can move around a town comfortably.
Notice how long the green man lasts near you, and who is still in the road when it changes. Where there is a way to report it, report it. Meanwhile, when you drive, wait without revving. Pace is not a moral quality.
Whose slower pace do you quietly resent on a shared path?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
