The hour borrowed from sleep can arrive carrying a cost the planner did not count.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

An hour taken from the night looks free at eleven o’clock and is not. It is borrowed, and the repayment comes as a slower morning, a shorter temper, a decision made worse than it needed to be, all of which are difficult to trace back to the loan. Plans that find their extra time in sleep are usually just moving the shortage somewhere harder to see.

When the schedule will not fit, take the hour from the list rather than from the night. Decide what does not get done and let that be explicit. Tiredness is a poor place to hide a scheduling problem.
